The process of trial and error is so important a factor in succeeding that the story of self-confidence is necessary for understanding the action of doers. When you decide on accomplishing that one thing that you so desire, you must first believe you can accomplish it. One obstacle that faces the vast majority of people who wish to accomplish that which they so desire, is lack of self-confidence.
Most people do not actually believe they can accomplish that which they so desire. Those who accomplish that which they so desire are those who believe and I call them doers.
Fear is a destructive force that is detrimental to your success. It is the father of lack of self-confidence. Master and conquer fear and your story of self-confidence will be well-read and copied.
The story of Self-Confidence – what you need to know
At the birth of Fear, the death of self-confidence was announced and this is the beginning of the story of self-confidence. Fear entered into the arena of accomplishment and into our minds and whispered: “you can’t do it”.
Thereafter, the desire to accomplish was greatly incapacitated.
This story of self-confidence became even pathetic when fear gave birth to six kids namely;
- Fear of Death
- Fear of Poverty
- Fear of Criticism
- Fear of Rejection
- Fear of Ill-Health
- Fear of old Age
On careful study of these kids of fear, man has inadvertently adopted one or more of its kids. Fear dominates our mental space and inhibits us from thinking clearly. Those who have adopted any of these kids of fear have sent self-confidence to its grave.
There was a man who has a very good education and is intelligent and has the ability to meet the needs of the world. Somehow, he listened to those who said somethings about moderation as one great virtue and that to make himself known in life is tantamount to pride. Instead of thinking big and aiming high, he listened to public opinion as it were and he drew himself back and let others offer the world what it needs.
He lost self-confidence in that which he so desired and allowed the fear of what people will say get a hold on him. He quit finally and lost his ambition. He did not make use of self-confidence and self-confidence left him. Instead, he allowed fear to rule him and it limited him.
Development of self-Confidence
With this story of self-confidence, I want to teach you the law of use. Those muscles that you constantly exercise and put into use, develop and grow stronger. The same is true with self-confidence; put it to use without listening to public opinion and it develops.
Inaction sometimes leads to loss of self-confidence and ambition.
Finally, if you need to build self-confidence first, know that one thing that you want in life, know how you are going to accomplish that which you so desire in life, take action without listening to public opinion and you would have taken a hold on your destiny.
Join the community of those who recharge their minds and live their dream. Remember, your mind is like a battery, you either recharge it or it will run down and go flat.

Charles,
When anyone tells you that ‘you are overconfident’ – what exactly are they saying?
Confidence is everything. Fear is part and parcel of the package in the success journey. We see while coaching and consulting in the startups and small business space. The line drawn between the newbies and experts is undeniable. There are those starting to climb the confidence ladder from the bottom. Then we have those at the peak, wearing the overconfident hat.
You strengthen the muscles of the mind when you face fear in the face each day. This then builds what mankind celebrates as exceptional and extraordinary. But when you look quite close, it is something that anyone else could have done. The super-successful one took it a notch higher and flexed more muscles. They embraced the over-confidence card and over stretched it.
This is a ritual to add in daily reflection when checking off each blockade on the path of success.
