In the quest to succeed, you must at the beginning take stock of your good and bad habits. This is what I call taking stock of your strengths and weaknesses. Taking stock of these good and bad habits is the first battle you need to wage and win if you will find your space in our competitive world.
Understanding of habits is a powerful weapon we need to acquire in a bid to master ourselves and conquer the world. Habits are formed when thoughts enter the mind repeatedly and we act on those thoughts. These thoughts can be good or bad.
The more zeal we have in a particular matter the easier it is to form habits in that matter. This is the law that governs habits. Over the years, I have come to realize it takes great effort to undo bad habits than continue in them. Now that you have taken stock of these bad habits in your quest to find success, how do you get rid of them?
Let’s delve in.
How to get rid of that bad habit
What I am about revealing to you about bad habits will also work for good habits. I discovered over the years that one of my bad habits was my lack of trust in my relationship with people. I got rid of this bad habit by focusing my strength in building an opposite thought in my mind about people than trying to get rid of the suspicion thought altogether.
Giving people the benefit of the doubt when I met them and was in the process of building a business relationship with them was a challenge. To overcome this challenge, as soon as I come into contact with a person I am about doing business with, I try concentrating all my strength and energy in killing the thought of suspicion against them by refusing to harbor any thought of suspicion in my mind.
I get rid of that thought of suspicion immediately from my mind because the battle to implant this new opposite thought is always at the beginning. You will win over that bad habit if you have the strength and willpower to implant the opposite thought in your mind than fighting to conquer the bad habit.
Your success in getting rid of that bad habit depends on the zeal you have in doing away with that bad habit and acquiring the new.
In essence, if you have disgust for that bad habit and show zeal to acquire the new habit then, you will succeed in getting rid of that bad habit easily.
